A Word From Mike: 

While attending the University of Iowa, I worked summers up on the roof as the tear-off guy. After graduating in 1991, the economy was a lot like it is today and good jobs were scarce. For me, it was back on the roof. It was good hard work and I liked it. Eventually, I took a job working inside sales selling water main pipe and fire hydrants. After a year of learning a lot about sales, I just wanted to get back outside and up on the roof. I enjoyed building things that everyone could see and that I could admire, not just selling materials that got buried in the ground. So in April of 1993, I opened Hawkeye Roofing Company named after my alma mater and the rest is history. Every year is different from the last and we never know what will happen next. It sounds like a cliché’, but everyday brings a new challenge that needs a solid plan and a sound solution. In my business, we can’t just show up and say we can’t do it. We have to get up there, make it watertight, and make it look good.
